The Role
SGQ is seeking a Project Engineer — Civil & Road Construction to join one of its high-performing construction delivery teams in Bundaberg.
This hands-on role provides engineering support and quality assurance across civil infrastructure projects, helping ensure projects are delivered to client expectations while supporting SGQ’s commercial objectives.
The position offers genuine exposure to project delivery and the opportunity to grow under experienced Senior Engineers and Management.
Position Specific Duties
The Project Engineer will be responsible for:
- Analysing design documents to support construction methodology development
- Assisting with the preparation, implementation and revision of construction programs
- Supporting the achievement of key project milestones
- Assisting the Project Manager with statutory approvals and project authorisations
- Working with the Site Supervisor to organise materials, plant and resources
- Providing on-site supervision of project staff and resources
- Supporting effective project delivery across civil infrastructure works
- Contributing to weekly project cost reviews
- Responding to underperforming activities and helping improve project outcomes
- Reviewing construction documents to identify client quality requirements
- Coordinating, monitoring and controlling required quality testing
- Ensuring works comply with project specifications and quality standards

Qualifications & Experience
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to apply engineering principles to civil infrastructure construction
- Experience conducting quality investigations and reporting findings
- Experience supervising and directing project resources
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable
- Experience on Department of Main Roads projects
- Experience on general civil infrastructure projects
