Bruce Highway, Wide Bay District

Bruce Highway – Wongi to Nulla, Wide Bay District, Qld (2022-2023)

This $7.5m project involved a Bruce Highway Roadside Safety Package – including shoulder widenings, batter upgrades and guardrail installation along 13 kms of the high traffic volume highway. An upgrade to the busy BP service station and side-road intersection zone was also completed. The client was the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

Scope of Work

  • Cut-to-fill bulk earthworks
  • Install of Reinforced Concrete Pipe Culverts
  • Batter Upgrades including Shotcrete Finish
  • Unbound pavements, Bitumen seal, AC corrector & surfacing
  • Installation of Guardrail system & Road Network Signage
  • Landscaping and establishment works

  • Significant traffic and logistical management elements to the works
  • Manage redesigns of AC corrector and surfacing areas, in collaboration with TMR
  • Managing PUP design clashes (Wide Bay Water, APA Gas) – investigation & collaboration with TMR for redesign solutions
  • Stakeholder & community liaison & management, incl. TMR, Fraser Coast Regional Council, local businesses (caravan park, plantation logging companies), general public and motorists
  • Traffic Management of Approx. 10,000 vehicles per day throughout the stages of construction
