Project Spotlight
Isis Highway Upgrade
SGQ have hit the ground running on TMR’s Isis Highway contract (Bundaberg Ring Rd to Park Estate Dr), with works starting in November 2024. The project is funded under the QLD Government’s High Risk Roads Initiative and over the 2025/26 period will achieve:
- A Reduction in the number of conflict points with new service roads
- Improvements and connections to existing intersections
- Over 40 upgraded drainage structures to mitigate the risks of localized flash flooding
- Pavement rehabilitation enhancing rideability and surface quality overall
- Road widening greatly improving the separation between vehicles travelling in opposing directions
December to March Update:
The project has progressed positively, with service roads well underway, drainage works ahead of schedule & approaching completion.
Pipe-jacking operations were completed in a timely manner before the inclement effects of tropical cyclone Alfred were felt.
Like most projects in the region, the recent wet weather has proved challenging. The project team has done well to overcome these challenges & keep the project moving forward.

Duckpond Road Flood Resilience
The project was completed for Bundaberg Regional Council in December and includes the much-needed upgrade of the existing low crossing causeway for future flood resilience.
The need for the causeway upgrade was justified with flooding rain inundating the site during delivery.
The project was handed over to a satisfied client in December 2024 ahead of schedule. The local Moolboolaman community now has safer access in & out of the region during heavy rain events. Historically, the crossing has been submerged for up to 30 days a year, severely impacting resident’s daily lives.
The new road height sits one meter above the existing level, significantly improving the crossing’s flood resilience ensuring that it remains accessible and safe.

Bundaberg Office and Depot Update:
SGQ Bundaberg’s Low Street Office & Depot is now fully operational and marks a major millstone in our continued growth & commitment to the region. The new depot positions SGQ to strategically serve existing & new clients in the region, paving the way for new opportunities. Coral Coast staff welcome everyone to pop in & say hello.
